Fuzzy Chess Tactics

چکیده
This paper presents a fuzzy implementation for the tactics of the game of chess. Chess as been traditionally used for explaining fuzzy reasoning, and is often considered a platform of choice to test intelligent systems. However, an extensive search for applications of fuzzy sets, inference or reasoning to the game of chess, gives hardly any concrete results. One can find fuzzy improvements to classic tree search algorithms like, for example, fuzzy forward-pruning (which can obviously be applied to chess), but not a single relevant result in what concerns applying fuzzy to express or implement human chess knowledge. It is a fact that, chess, the ultimate measure of “intelligence” in old times, seems to have shed some of its gloss once it was discovered that you can do it quite well with alpha-beta pruning and a lot of sheer calculating power. However, chess knowledge is still arguably one of the factors that make good human chess players so hard to be beaten by a machine as long as time is not an issue for instance, in e-mail based tournaments, humans have a large advantage over machines and their expertise is the defining winning factor.

Multi-Agent Based Chess Move Generator System: Taking into Account Local Environments
Chess has spawned a great deal of successful research in the artificial intelligence (AI) community. The strength of some chess programs can be compared to top-level human players. Nevertheless, most of the AI research has been focused on the refinement of evaluation functions which are used to search the NP-complete solution space. Some optimizations have also been made to the arrangement in w...
متن کاملAuditory memory function in expert chess players
Background: Chess is a game that involves many aspects of high level cognition such as memory, attention, focus and problem solving. Long term practice of chess can improve cognition performances and behavioral skills. Auditory memory, as a kind of memory, can be influenced by strengthening processes following long term chess playing like other behavioral skills because of common processing pat...
متن کاملA Model Transforming A Problem Based on Chance Problem into Perfect Information and Its Fuzzy Application
In this work, we introduce a model which transforms a problem based on chance problem into perfect information. We apply the idea to the classical backgammon which becomes as rich and interesting as chess. We then program it by using fuzzy logic and obtain the performance results of the game.
متن کاملFuzzy Decision Trees
The inductive learning methodology known as decision trees, concerns the ability to classify objects based on their attributes values, using a tree like structure from which decision rules can be accrued. In this article, a description of decision trees is given, with the main emphasis on their operation in a fuzzy environment. A first reference to decision trees is made in Hunt et al. (1966), ...
متن کاملWhen Ants Play Chess (Or Can Strategies Emerge from Tactical Behaviours?)
Because we think that plans or strategies are useful for coordinating multiple agents, and because we hypothesize that most of the plans we use are build partly by us and partly by our immediate environment (which includes other agents), this paper is devoted to the conditions in which strategies can be viewed as the result of interactions between simple agents, each of them having only local i...
